4-day Science programme concludes at GCW Parade

Jammu, May 1: Four day Science programme under the theme 'Fostering Scientific Temperament and Explaining Natural Phenomenon -so called Miracles through inquiry based method' concluded today at Govt College for Women (GCW) Parade Jammu in a colorful valedictory function. The occasion was organized with an aim to thrust the sense of enquiry and scientific temper through enquiry based method related to Miracles, myths and superstitions. Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Shantmanu was the chief guest where as Prof (Dr) Hemla Agarwal Principal GCW Parade Jammu as guest of Honour alongwith Dr Arvind Ranade, Scientist E, Vigyan Prasar Noida DST New Delhi shared the dais with chief guest. In his presidential address Divisional Commissioner Shantmanu stressed that the need of the hour is that science should not be conflicted with religion, religion has its own significance but there is dire need to fight and expose those who misuse religion especially the so-called tantriks and babas who are hell bent to destroy religion as well as humanity. He congratulated the organization for organizing such an important programme and further stressed the participants to propagate this knowledge which they gained during this programme in their respective areas. Earlier in his welcome address Program coordinator Dr Ashiq Hussain said that this programme is being organized by National Council for Urban and Rural Development Society Jammu in collaboration with Vigyan Prasar Noida and Department of Science and technology, which was attended over 50 clubs of Northern States of India, 30 mobile Schools and about 35 College Teachers. On the demand by the chief guest Dr Ashiq performed some tricks usually performed by tantriks and dhoongi babas to befool the peoples. Dr Arvind Ranade in his address through a detailed light on the working of Vigyan Prasar and provided a gist of each and every science programme undertaken by vigyan prasar for uplifting scientific temperament. Prof Hemla Agarwal in his address lauded the efforts of NCURD S especially Zaffarullah Khan in uplifting the scientific temperament among all sections of society. The proceeding of the programme was carried out by Dr Ashiq Hussain whereas vote of thanks was presented by Kuldeep Gupta, Coordinator NCSC J&K.
