| 5 Russian cyclists on expedition tour | | Kishtwar tourism faces indifference from Kashmir centric politicians | | Asif Iqbal Naik Kishtwar, May 1: Five Russian cyclists including one lady today reached Kishtwar as part of cycling expedition tour to Himachal Pradesh by exploring tourism rich Kishtwar-Padder-Pangi-Shimla route that passes through mountainous belt of Padder and Sach pass situated at an altitude of over 13000 feet above the sea level. The cyclists Alexey Soluyanov, Sergey Tinchurin, Oya Gritskova, Dmitrii Podshivalenko and Simeonkogan reached Delhi on April 26 and started their expedition tour from there which will conclude on May 11, 2014. The said Padder route was earlier explored by the Russian rafters couple of years ago. Even though the government of Jammu and Kashmir claims that they have spent sufficient amount on revival of tourism in the state, but Kishtwar District of Jammu province is still facing indifference at behest of the Kashmir dominated government. Though the government of Jammu and Kashmir during Mufti Mohammad Sayeed led government sanctioned Tourism Development Authority for Kishtwar, but the authority was denied sufficient funds by the government as a result of which many tourism related developmental works were in limbo since the development authority come into existence. It is pertinent to mention that several foreigners before the onset of the militancy in Jammu and Kashmir used Padder and Marwah routes for adventure tourism. Trekking route from Gulabgarh to Ladakh via Omasilla pass is familiar among the all traditional routes beside Kishtwar-Dachhan-Marwah-Warwan-Pahalgam route was also famous among the foreigners.
