Rafiabad, May 2: Senior vice president J&K Pradesh Congress Committee, former minister and member AICC Abdul Gani Vakil today said that Congress is committed to uphold and strengthening the special status of J&K and the party will oppose every small or big move to dilute Article 370.
He said that some forces who are thinking of weakening or eroding this article are inimical to peace and tranquility in the state.
Vakil said that after accession Article 370 has proved a vital bridge between India and J&K. BJP's policy of grabbing land in the state to facilitate settlement of communal forces here cannot be permitted and not an inch of land of the state will be given or provided to such forces.
Congress in the interest of the nation will vehemently fight abrogation move in and outside the Parliament, he added. Former Minister said that it is the duty of every nation lover to discourage those parties particularly BJP which are banking on such imprudent moves.
He said BJP has always been fond of propagating communal agenda for short term political gains and has never preferred nation. He said to give due respect to Mahatma's dream of secular India everyone must get united to defeat unholy designs of BJP.
Vakil was addressing party workers meetings in Panzalla, Shutluwa, Nowgam and several other villages of Rafiabad in Baramulla Parliamentary constituency. Meetings were organized to ensure support for coalition candidate.
Vakil strongly criticized Narendra Modi's approach and policy to abrogate Article 370 and said one who publicly is adamant and determined to abrogate Article 370 how PDP is expecting settlement of Kashmir issue through him God forbid! if he becomes PM of India. He asked PDP declare publically to whom they support at Centre for formation of Government.
