| Omar Govt's gazetted officer calls for 'civil disobedience', revolt against India | | Whenever we initiated action, our hands were tied by Ministers' | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 2: An employee of the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference-Congress Government in Jammu and Kashmir has demonstrated his courage of provoking the Government employees not only for boycotting their election duties but also for 'civil disobedience'. Interestingly, the Government is paying a monthly salary of about Rs one lakh to Dr Nisar-ul Hasan, President of Doctors Association of Kashmir (DAK) who has issued the statement through media on Thursday.
In brazen violation to the State Government's service rules and in an revolt against the Indian State, Dr Nisar of SMHS Hospital Srinagar has called upon the polling staff to disobey the Government's orders to deploy them for election duties. His incendiary statement, openly calling for "freedom" from India, said: "People should stop paying tax to the oppressors to initiate civil resistance. People instead should contribute to the institution of freedom on regular basis so that victim families are taken care of. The mission of freedom will be accomplished only if freedom movement is institutionalized and civil resistance is started".
"Kashmiris have no other option than to continue their protests against oppression. We have to make sacrifices in order to achieve our goal. We should have a craving for martyrdom to defeat our enemy. It is time for civil disobedience as it is the most important tool of freedom struggle. The biggest tribute to the martyred youth from employees would be to boycott poll duties which is their obligation towards civil resistance", Dr Nisar has said without an iota of fear of being booked under different provisions of the Indian criminal laws. He has expressed satisfaction that by staying away from the elections, the Kashmiris had "once again dismissed the Indian occupation".
"Security forces have been given a license to kill and are on a mission of killing spree especially youth in order to sustain their illegal occupation. They are continuing bloodbath in Kashmir to suppress the sentiment. India is carrying out genocide of Kashmiris under well planned policy to continue their illegal control", Dr Nisar has said in his statement.
Asked for their reaction to the DAK President's statement, administrators of Government Medical College Srinagar said that issuing such anti-national and highly objectionable statements had become a routine for Dr Nisar. "He doesn't care a fig for the Government as some highly placed mainstream politicians are said to be at his back. They include some Ministers of Omar Abdullah's Government who use him against their rival Ministers", said a senior Faculty member at GMC Srinagar. He said that earlier this year, Dr Nisar had made scathing attacks and launched a sustained character assassination campaign against Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Saleem ul Rehman.
Senior Police officials disclosed to Early Times: "We are completely helpless in this case. Whenever, we initiated, some Ministers tied our hands and put us under tremendous pressure. There are four FIRs registered against this doctor but senior officers and Ministers have directed us not to initiate any action. We have written letters to DGP and Principal Secretary Home but there is no response". |
