| Not soft corner for PDP, hectic schedule keeps Azad away from valley: Cong | | | Javaid Naikoo
JAMMU, May 2: With suspense continuing over ex-Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad's absence from the state political scene, Vice-President of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Ghulam Nabi Monga today clarified that hectic national schedule was keeping Azad away from campaigning for candidates put up by NC-Congress coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir. He dismissed popular presumption in Kashmir that it was proximity with ex-Finance Minister Muzaffar Hussain Beig which was keeping Azad away from J&K. Monga said that willing or unwillingly, Congress is supporting NC candidates. He further said that friendly ties between politicians never come in the way of their ideology while adding that the same is true in the case of Ghulam Nabi Azad too'. He said that though Azad earlier promised himself, besides state congress leadership also asked Azad to visit Kashmir and campaign for alliance candidates in North and Central Kashmir parliamentary constituencies. However, according to Monga, it is because of the pre-occupied schedule of Ghulam Nabi Azad that he could not come to Kashmir to campaign in central and North Kashmir for alliance candidates. He said that if because of his busy schedule Azad could not come to Kashmir does not mean that he is not willing to campaign against PDP candidates whosoever it is or Ghulam Nabi Azad or congress are by any means are ditching NC. He also said that at a time when Ghulam Nabi Azad is not in Kashmir to campaign for NC candidates, JKPCC President Saif-uf-din -Soz is going neck in neck with NC leadership across the Kashmir and is committed to use all means and measures to make victory of NC-Congress alliance candidates possible. As reported on April 27-2014 that highly placed sources within state congress leadership informed early times that despite formal requests from Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and senior NC leadership, Ghulam Nabi Azad has denied to campaign for NC-Congress alliance Candidates in Central and North Kashmir following his close friendly terms with the families of PDP candidates of Central and North Kashmir Parliamentary constituencies, Tariq Hameed Qara and Muzffar Hussain Beigh and senior leadership of NC including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah himself are feeling ditched by state congress office bearers. |
