Srinagar, May 2 : Jammu and Kashmir High Court has sought status about the working of two committees formed by the government to look into complaints of negligence and official misconduct against doctors and paramedics in the state.
Hearing a Public Interest litigation, a division bench of the court comprising Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir and Justice Hasnain Massodi observed that in compliance to court's direction Government has stated vide an order (no. 612-HME of 2012) on 9-10-2012, two committees have been constituted to look into the complaints against the doctors and paramedical staff under their jurisdiction and to recommend disciplinary action."But it is not made clear as to whether the constituted committees have taken initiative to look into the negligence/professional misconduct of the part of medicos and para medicos nor it is shown as to whether any action has been taken against any such erring official," the division bench said.
The respondents, the division bench said, shall notify the position of these two committees for the awareness of general public so that people, when required, may contact the committees for redressal of grievances.
"Affidavit shall be filed by or before next date, indicating therein as to whether said committees have received any complaint and as to whether any action has been taken thereon," the division bench said, posting the case for further consideration on May 26.
