| JMC launches drive against adulteration, smoking in public places | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 2: Drive against adulteration, smoking in public places and against polythene carry bags was launched on Friday by a team of Jammu Municipal Corporation. Teams inspected various food establishments at Indira Chowk, B.C. Road and Jewel area of Jammu city. Two samples of Pineapple Fruit Drink (Sap Brand) and Litchi Fruit Drink (Sap Brand) from Industrial Area Gangyal were lifted and sent to the Food Analyst, Jammu for ascertaining standards of purity.Drive against public smoking was also launched in which four persons were booked under COTP Act 2003 and a fine of Rs.800 was imposed on them. Team also visited many places and about eight Kgs of polythene carry bags was seized. A fine of Rs. 4,200 was imposed on defaulters. During the round citizens were also advised not to smoke in the public places as it is injurious to health. The Health Officer once again appealed to the Food Business operators and the Jammuties not to use polythene carry bags. The drive will continue and the general public is requested to co-operate with the Jammu Municipal Corporation to make the ongoing drive a success. Earlier in the morning the Health Officer alongwith sanitation officer and other field staff inspected sanitation in the areas of Channi, Nanak Nagar and Gangyal and directed the field staff to improve the sanitation effectively. |
