| Students, scholars of Dogri Deptt come out in support of HOD | | Alleges conspiracy of some student leaders, profs | |

Jammu, May 2: Coming forward in support of their department and its head, students and scholars of Dogri department today held a strong protest demonstration alleging that some mischievous elements in the campus are defaming the department for their vested interest.
Scholars of the department including Ritu Kumar, Shiv Sharma and Manoj while raising slogans alleged, that it is a conspiracy hatched by some professors in the campus who don't want present head to lead department from the front and are maligning the image of a hard working man. These professors have a single motto of removing Prof. S. D. Manhas from the headship of the department.
Some student leaders and ex- student leaders are hand in glove with these professors to fulfill their ill will. Further, they said that there is an organization, which is a harassing and blackmailing Professors, scholars, students and JU administration on one pretext and others.
This organization a few months back targeted Director Business School; Director, Directorate of Distance Education Jammu University and so on, they alleged.
Now this organization has started maligning the image of a senior Professor under whose tenure the department has produced a number of PhDs and Mphils. It was under Prof. Manhas tenure that a long pending demand of computer lab by students and scholars was fulfilled, they said. The period of his headship was remarkable time in the history of department as a number of workshops, seminars and cultural activities were undertaken.
Students and Scholars of the Dogri department also raised the question mark on the real beneficiary if the present heard is removal. They also said that who is that person who stole the answer sheets and after lodging the FIR by the University, dispatched the same answer sheets to the department through post.
Students and scholars of the department further said that they will meet the Governor in the near future to apprise him the whole facts. They warned the University Authorities till the person who stole the papers was not traced, then no action against HOD Dogri should be taken. If this happens, we will sit on hunger strike. |
