Jammu, May 3 : The Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, based at Thanamandi, under Romeo Force organized a lecture on 'The Ill Effects of smoking and How to Quit', at Village Sangiot near Thanamandi, today. The lecture was organised to bring the awareness on the importance of living a healthy lifestyle amongst the youth of this region. Mohd Gulzar, the Sarpanch of Village Sangiot, inaugurated the programme and expressed his concern on the increasing trend of smoking amongst the youth. He said that the youngsters get easily influenced and many of them start smoking because they perceive it to be a fashionable activity. He hoped that the youth attending this programme will realize the ill effects of smoking and will initiate a campaign in the region to help others to get rid of this habit. Locals of Village Sangiot expressed their gratitude to the Indian Army for organizing such an event for the youth and said that such programme will certainly encourage the youth to avoid smoking and become more healthy citizens of the country. |
