| Spar between NC, Cong leaders reflect future relations between two coalition partners | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 3: As conclusion of the Parliamentary elections draw near, war of words between National Conference and Congress again started, despite the fact that last phase of elections for Baramulla and Ladakh seats are going to be held on May 7. The just started spar between two coalition partners is an indication of what is going to be held in the coming days between leaders of National Conference and Congress. Repeating the history, it was against outspoken additional general secretary of National Conference, Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal, who happens to be Uncle of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, has started war of words. Dr Kamaal, a known critic of Congress, openly charged workers of coalition partner for voting in favour of PDP, especially in South Kashmir where PDP president Mehbooba Mufti is candidate against sitting National Conference candidate Dr Mehboob Beg. It is believed that National Conference has realized that party is going to loss Anantnag seat so party trying to shift all responsibility on coalition partner Congress for betraying. Constituencies represented by Congress Ministers namely Dooru, being presented by Ghulam Ahmed Mir and Kokernag, being represented by Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, have experienced highest polling and it is believed that PDP is going to get good number of votes from these constituencies so NC leadership is looking for escape routes. Ghulam Ahmed Mir today reacted strongly on allegations of Mustafa Kamaal and challenged the Kamaal that NC is going to get less votes from the areas considered as strongly holds of National Conference. Meanwhile, Dr Farooq Abdullah today intervened to stop spar between leaders of two parties and claimed that the NC-Congress Alliance in Parliamentary elections was working "perfectly well" and that Mustafa Kamaal's comments stating anything to the contrary were irrelevant. "Congress votes were transferred effectively to National Conference candidates in the Anantnag Parliamentary segment election and Congress leaders in South Kashmir worked with utmost honesty and dedication to ensure that the NC-Congress Coalition Candidates win with large margins", party spokesman in a statement issued quoting Farooq Abdullah as having said, adding that the same "cooperation and mutual trust" would be seen in the Baramulla-Kupwara Parliamentary Segment as well. |
