| Congress likely to lose huge chunk of traditional vote to PDP | | Wave of change sweeping across North Kashmir | | Javaid Naikoo SRINAGAR, May 3: Ahead of voting on North Kashmir Parliamentary constituency, top brass Congress leaders believe that following a wave of change swinging across Kashmir, around 1 lakh 50 thousand Congress workers of North Kashmir are up to vote for People’s Democratic Party and the fact is known to people like Taj Mohi-ud-Din and Abdul Gani Vakil. One former Minister and senior leader of state Congress on the condition of anonymity informed Early Times that in 15 constituencies of North Kashmir around 1 lakh 50 thousand people who usually cast their votes for Congress candidates have decided to switch over to PDP this time and cast their votes for Muzaffar Hussain Beigh instead of NC-Congress alliance candidate Sharif-ud-Din Shariq. "It is wave of change which started form South Kashmir where our Congress workers overwhelmingly voted for Mehbooba instead of Mehboob Beigh and I must tell you that people like Taj Mohi-ud-din and Gani Vakil and others are also well aware of change and fate of our candidate Sharif Sahab," said Congress leader and former Minister. The senior leader said that the Congress workers and dedicated voters of the party never supported decision of Pre-poll alliance with NC for Parliamentary elections keeping in view the degrading image of NC leadership among common masses not only due to their ill planned policies, but also due to neglect of grass root Congress workers during the reign of coalition Government. Reacting on the statement of NC additional general secretary, Mustafa Kamaal that Congress workers in South Kashmir voted for PDP instead of NC's Mehboob Beigh, the Congress leader said that it came to fore within minutes after voting was concluded in South Kashmir on 24 April that Congress workers are casting their votes for PDP candidate and while expressing astonishment he added that why Kamaal is not aware that in central Kashmir particularly within Srinagar city and Ganderbal District Congress workers in large numbers voted for PDP's Tariq Hameed Qara instead of his brother Dr Farooq Abdullah. |
