| Returning Officer Kathua discusses arrangements for counting | | | Kathua, May 3: In order to accomplish the process of Counting of votes, Returning Officer Jitendra K Singh today chaired a meeting with the Assistant Returning Officers (ARO) of Assembly constituencies falling under 5-Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency and informed them about their functions during the counting on May 16 to be held at Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua. Chairing the meeting, he directed the AROs to ensure that all the counting related works are completed as per Election Commission of India's (ECI) guidelines. He disclosed that the counting will be done in the presence of General Observers, ARO's and political agents. RO directed the ARO's to depute staff to facilitate transportation of EVM's from Strong Room to counting halls and tabulation staff for round wise evaluation of counting statistics in addition to Counting Supervisors and Counting Assistants. Returning Officer disclosed that a separate colour coding for EVM carriers bearing the name of Assembly Constituencies will be adopted for easy identification and added that counting will be carried out in 17 different halls for all 17 segments wherein internet facility will be provided to every ARO with required infrastructure. Jitendra K Singh said the process of counting of votes will start with the counting of postal ballots first then EVM's of all 17 segments. ADC Kathua, ADDC Kathua, ACR Kathua were also present in the meeting. |
