Jammu gymnast selected for World Cup

JAMMU, May 3: Young gymnast, Palak Kour has been selected by the Gymnastics Federation of India for the FIG World in Rhythmic Gymnastics to be held at Tashkent in Uzbekistan from May 22 to May 25.
Her selection was made during the trials conducted by the Federation at Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh on April 22. A 12th standard student, Palak trained under the guidance of senior coach of the State Sports Council, Krupali Singh.
International Gymnast, Palak has earlier also represented the country in the World Championships at Ukrain, Asian Championship at Uzbekistan and Children of Asia Games at Russain. "This rhythmic gymnast has also been selected as the core probable for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games to be held at Scotland in July this area and Asian Games at South Korea in November," disclosed general secretary of J&K Gymnastics Association, Ajit Singh Wazir.
Meanwhile, Palak, along with her coach, Krupali Singh called on the Minister for Sports, Raman Bhalla at latter's residence to seek his blessings. Minister lauded the efforts of the coach and the player for brining laurels to the state.


Students of SP Smart Kids School visit Manda Zoo

JAMMU, May 3: The SP Smart School arranged an Educational field visit for the children of Primary Wing at famous Manda Zoo in the outskirts of Jammu city.
According to press release, it was a great experience for the kids who were delighted to see different types of birds and animals.
The visit was arranged in order to inculcate scientific temperament among the young kids. The teachers accompanying them, educated the students about the importance of ecological balance maintained by caring for animals, on this occasion, the students took pledge to always care for animals.





Jodhamal dominates in girls swimming

JAMMU, May 3: Host Jodhamal Public School dominated the girls' under-14 and under-17 inter-school swimming competition of Jammu district, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), here today.
Jodhamal girls secured most of the medals in both the age categories thus made their presence felt. The medal winners were encouraged by Principal of the Jodhamal Public School, Tarlok Singh Bist, who was chief guest in the closing function.
The swimming meet held as part of annual calendar of activity under the overall supervision of Deputy Director DYSS, Ved Prakash Sharma.
Competition officiated by the technical penal including Sarita Padha (ZPEO), Rajesh Sambyal, Rachpal Singh, Ravinder Singh, Mahadev Singh, Suraj Dev Singh and Harpreet Bhalla.

Inter-School sports tourney concludes in Doda

Doda/Darhal, May 3: The Inter-School tournament U-17 and U-14 age group Boys/Girls in disciplines of Kabaddi, Volleyball, Kho-Kho and Wrestling organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports at City Middle School Doda concluded today. Atleast 250 students from different schools including boys and girls participated in the tournament
District Youth Services and Sports Officer Doda S R Kotwal Katoch was the chief guest during the valedictory function.
According to spokesperson in Kabaddi U-17 years category (Boys) HSS Doda defeated HS Trown (Doda) by 07 points while as in 14 year age group GMS City Boys defeated M.S Doda by 08 points.
"In Volleyball U-17 years category (Boys) HS Pangsoo beat HSS Boys Doda by 01 set and in U-14 years category M.S Shalote beat City Middle School Doda similarly by 02 sets, statement said.
It said, "In Kho-Kho U-17 category (Girls), HS Paryote defeated HS Pul Doda by 09 points and in U-14 Kho-Kho category City Middle Schools Doda defeated Middle School Akramabad 0-5 points whereas in Boys category U-17 years category AIER Academy Doda beat Green Model Higher Secondary School by 03 points and in U-14 years category Green Model Higher Secondary School Doda defeated City Middle School Boys by 01 point in Kho -Kho
"The events were officiated by Subash Kumar PEM, Fayaz Amed PEM, Ifroz Hussain PET, Ravinder Rana PET, Salma Rozi PET, Satya Devi PET, Anayatullah Gattu PET, Farooq Ahmed PET, Irshad Ahmed PET and Jagdish Chander PET, the statement said.
Meanwhile, Inter school tournament of under 14 years boys and girls concluded today. The tournament was inaugurated by Tehsildar Darhal and supervised by Zonal Physical Education Officer Imtiaz Ahmed Malik and officiated by Khalil Malik PET, Barik Hussai PEM and others.
Final Results:
Kabadi: Winner; M.S Darhal, Runner; GHS Nadian; Kho-Kho: Winner; DPS Darhal; Runner; H.S Dadaj; Volleyball: Winner; H.S Dodaj; Runner; M.S Darhal.
Overall 153 students of various school participated in the tournament and the tournament was concluded by Principal BHSS Darhal Mtr. Razia Qureshi.

Choodamony Sansthanam organises mass Yagnopaveet’ rituals

Basholi, May 3: Choodamony Sanskrit Sansthanam Basohli, a religious organization organized collective yagyopavit sanskar of 16 children in the sansthanam complex under the noble guidance of Dr Uttam Chand Shastri a scholar, philanthropist, Ayurvedacharya and founder of the sansthanam.
The objective behind the founding of the sansthanam is to bring the sanatandharm and humanity on the right track which has gone astray from the reality of life and has divorced the human values in this materialistic wordily approach in present fast age.
According to Dr U.C Shastri, amid the race to materialistic wordily comforts, the man has ceased paying respect to the parents, elders, teachers and even the nation which is resulting into corruption, hunger, disease, deprivation and hatred within social set up. He also underlined that time has come to evolve some way so that the fading or disappearing vedic values are revived again in new perspective fitting into the new setup of the society in the future. Dr Shastri though an octogenarian has taken up this noble job of making the world worth living by reviving the same values for which the country India (Bharat) was famous for ages in past . and co9ntinuing his endevours in this direction he organized a mass yagyopavit sanskar of children in an impressive occasion held here today.


KC Gurukul Public School celebrates
‘Week of Moral Values’

JAMMU, May 3: A week of activities evolving around the Moral Values in KC Gurukul Public School. Each day activity had a different theme. Students were given various moral lessons through theme songs, skits and dances. Students from classes pre-Nursery to 5th presented themselves in extraordinary ways to convey the messages of Honesty, Unity, Respect for Parents and hard work.
Parents were invited to visit the classes and make the students realize the importance of moral values in life by narrating them the stories with moral lessons.
Students of classes 4th and 5th made a visit to Old Age Home, Ambphala; where they spent time with the aged and entertained them through songs, bhajans, jokes and dances. Fruits and snacks were distributed among them.
Students expressed their respect and gratitude for the labour class of our school by interacting with them and distributed eatables to them with love.
Senior students came prepared with moral based stories and narrated them during assembly time.
Chairman Arvind Mahajan and Academic Director Vijay Puri, said that a person's values are typically based on Morals. Moral values are the highest among all natural values. Goodness, purity, truthfulness, humility of man rank higher than genius, brilliancy and exuberant vitality. Headmistress Mamta Singh, advised the students to always follow the path of morality.
