JAMMU, May 3 : On the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, 15 new idols of Ganpati, Shiva, Parvati and others have been installed in the Saraswati Temple at Colonel's Colony, Bohri, on Friday with religious fervor in a religious ceremony organised by the Saraswati Temple Seva Mandli in the temple premises. The programme started with Hawan which was followed by Puran Aahuti in which a large number of devotees from the nearby area were also participated. The idols namely Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, Lord Vishnu, Goddess Mahalaxmi, Goddess Saraswati, Goddess Kali, Goddess Radha and Lord Krishna, Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, Goddess Laxman, Goddess Hanuman, Sai Baba and Goddess Sheetla. Giving details about the programme, Temple Priest, Subhash Shastri informed "Akshaya Tritiya is a very popular festival that the Hindus celebrate every year. It is considered as one of the most important days for Hindu community as it is the day of the birth of the Bhagwan Parasurama" The temple priest appreciated the work done by Seva Mandli and hoped that it will continue for the welfare of the society. He also prayed for the peace, progress and prosperity of the people of the State. Shastri informed that the Seva Mandli organising a large Bhandara on Sunday (May 4), and appealed to people to join in large number and seeks the blessing of Maa Durga. |
