| Another attempt to vitiate communal harmony in KishtwarAnother attempt to vitiate communal harmony in Kishtwar | | Theft in Kishtwar temple, idols stolen; recovered | | Asif Iqbal Naik Kishtwar, May 3: In yet another attempt to vitiate fragile peace and harmony in communally sensitive Kishtwar, miscreants desecrated the Sumna Bhatta temple in Pullar village some 40 KM from Kishtwar town and escaped with the idol and the Trishul. Both the idol and the Trishul were later recovered from an isolated places outside the village later. As per the details available with " Early Times" locals noticed the idol and Trishul missing from the temple early Saturday morning and the news of the incident spread like wild fire as a result of which large number of people assembled outside the temple and started protesting, demanding recovery of the stolen items beside arrest of the culprits. Sensing trouble, Dy. SP Kishtwar Nazir Ahmed Ganie immediately rushed to the Pullar village alonmg with his team and local police post. After brisk searching, the stolen items were recovered. Dy. SP Kishtwar assured the people that police will investigate the matter and added that the guilty will be punished in accordance with law. After assurance from the police and local administration, the people dispersed peacefully. Meanwhile senior BJP leader and party National Youth Executive Member from Kishtwar Sunil Sharma condemned the mischievous act. In a press statement issued today, Sunil Sharma demanded probe into the incident beside stern punishment to the accused involved in this mischievous act. He also called on DC Kishtwar, DIG DKR and urged to uncover the elements involved in this heinous crime. It is pertinent to mention that today's incident is second such incident in last one week within the District after Mosque/ Darazga stoning in Padder. On both these occasions some mischievous elements unsuccessfully tried to destabilize the peace and tranquility by targeting religious places. |
