JAMMU, May 13: Khour Zone defeated Arnia by seven wickets to sail into the next round under-17 category in the ongoing inter-zone boys' cricket tournament of Jammu district under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at MA Stadium, here today. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Arnia made 54 runs for nine wickets in 15 overs with none of the batsman could touch the double digit mark. From Khour zone, Akshay Sharma clinched five wickets while Aman Singh took two. In reply, Khour Zone chased the total making 56 runs in just 6.1 overs losing three wickets. Sunil Dutta and Aman Singh contributed 10 and nine runs respectively. Rahul took two wickets from Arnia. Meanwhile, in under-14 boys' match, Miran Sahib zone registered a fine eight-wicket win against Satwari zone. Batting first, Satwari bowled out for 63 runs. Keshav made highest 12 runs. Sachin and Rohit shared two wickets each from Miran Sahib. Later, Miran Sahib zone attained the goal, rather easily, courtesy superb innings played by Sachin (22) and Jaganjot (17). In another under-14 tie, Gandhi Nagar zone beat Bishnah zone by 70 runs. Batting first, Gandhi Nagar set a big target of 124 runs for five wickets, including 58 extra runs. Gursimran and Shivam contributed 19 and 17 runs respectively. Abhishek took two wickets from Bishnah. Batting second, Bishnah boys bundled out for 53 runs. Gurvinder top scored with 14 runs. Shivam and Nitin took three wickets each from Gandhi Nagar zone. |
