| After unleashing terror on voters, 33000 Panchayat members labeled as 'informers' | | AJKPC urge Geelani to name stool pigeons | | Javaid Naikoo SRINAGAR, May 13: Responding to Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani's allegations that the village heads were police informers, the Panchayat Conference has urged the hardliner to identify the persons who he believed were informers. Terming Geelani's statement undemocratic and baseless, members of AJKPC said that village heads cannot resign en-masse as they have been elected by people for developmental activities in their respective areas and are not selected by politicians or political parties, therefore have nothing to do with politics. "Leveling baseless allegations does not suit a person like Geelani. If he and other separatist leaders feel that there is any one among village heads who is a police informer, they should identify him. I will support Geelani if he finds just one such persons. Later, we will jointly find other police informers," said chief spokesperson of AJKPC Ghulam Hussain Naqashbandi Talking to Early Times he said that at a time when Geelani is asking village heads to join separatist camps so that a message could be sent across the world that village heads also want solution to Kashmir issue, AJPKC believes that 'Kashmir issue must not be given in the hands of few people to solve it as per their will and taste but it must be solved as per the aspirations of people of all regions of Jammu and Kashmir which include people living in parts of Kashmir which are presently under Pakistan control, people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh divisions ,besides people from India and Pakistan should also be included'. He said like Geelani and other separatist leaders, village heads also belong to Kashmir and are also working for Kashmiris with utmost dedication and honesty without injuring Kashmir cause by any means," he added. The reaction of AJKPC members came after Kashmir's radical separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Monday came out with a provocative statement, instigating the militants to target over 33,000 panches and sarpanches. Without an iota of the regard for law, Geelani labeled the 33,000 panchayat members as "informers" as he alleged that the same people had been spotting the anti-election men and getting them arrested. The Hurriyat (G) chairman told in a statement that "any person who supports the establishment here works against the ongoing movement and that New Delhi exploits them and gives an impression that the people of Kashmir are 'contended with the Indian rule". He said "some kind of 'materialistic' benefits are being given to the Panchayat members here and in return they are assigned the job to maintain vigil over the pro-freedom elements in their respective areas. Later, the police chase those persons about whom the Panchayat members inform the police." "We ask people to boycott the vote as the reason behind this appeal is clear-the reason is that the process of voting and its percentage is exploited by the establishment", Geelani had said and asked all the 33,000 Panchayat members to resign en masse. Pertinently the statement of Geelani came after the killing of a village head and his son at Tral. |
