| RTO’s office raided, CB seizes records | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 13: A team of Crime Branch sleuths today raided office of the Regional Transport Officer at Jammu, following the complaint that the large scale bungling is taking place in the shape of fee charged by the very office, using of fake stamps on affidavits besides bungling in the issuance of Driving Licenses. Based on the complaint, the Crime Branch team reached in the office and seized the record for scrutiny. SSP Crime Branch Shakti Pathak when contacted said that the drive pertains to the old complaint lodged with the Crime Branch. Meanwhile, sources giving information said that, CB team seized the records from RTO office and during scrutiny found various discrepancies. During scrutiny it was found that the allegations leveled in the complaint were found to be correct as huge bungling have taken place by the clerks of fee counters. The fee structure displayed is contrary to the fees marked and collected. Further, the fees slips also displayed something else and revenue so generated out of fees is not tallying with the registered maintained. The documents attached with the files of transfer of Registration Number of the vehicles were also not properly maintained. Some affidavits have stamps of notary which was supposed to be attested by magistrate. Further, the bungling in the issuance of driving licenses also surface in the shape of photo swapping. Further investigation was in progress, till last reports came in. |
