JAMMU, May 13: Failure of Government to widen , develop the roads and complete the four lanning of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway coupled with the mess created by Traffic Department has resulted into the traffic chaos in entire Kashmir Valley where the people have to face long duration jams on National Highway.
The long duration traffic jams are witnessed for hours together on Srinagar -Jammu National Highway for hours together daily right from Wanpooh in South Kashmir district of Anantnag to Narbal in Baramulla district of North Kashmir has been a cause of concern for the masses.
There is a lot of resentment against the Traffic Police and administrstion for its failure in managing and regulating traffic on Valley routes where people are witnessing long duration jams daily.
There is such a mismanagement on Valley roads as well as National highway from Jawahar Tunnel to Srinagar that it takes only four hours to cover a distance of 150 kilometers from Udhampur to Jawahar Tunnel despite the fact that this portion of highway is terrain and also in bad condition while it takes another four hours to cover a distsnce of 80 kilometers from Jawahar Tunnel to Srinagar while the area is plain totally, said Ali Mohammed Hajjam a businessman from Ompora Budgam.
He said failure of Beacon authorities to construct the Four lanning of National Highway till date the work on which is going at snails pace coupled with encroachments on Highway and other roads has led to traffic chaos on NH and other roads.
He said complete chaos are witnessed on NH at Wanpooh, Khannabal, Bijebehara in Anantnag district, Awantipora, Pampore on Pulwama district , Athwajan and Panta Chowk in Srinagar district and Parimpotra also in Srinagar and Narbal in Baramulla district.
The traffic chaos is also witnessed at KP road in Naibasti Anantnag , said Tufail Qayoom of Awantipora , Pulwama. He said the failure of authorities to restore the NH and other roads in Valley from encroachers has led to the problem of traffic chaos.
He said the maximum roads have been encroached in Valley and no footpaths are visible on roads for walking of pedestrians as the same has been encroached by the land mafia and the authorities are maintaining total silence.
