| Screens set up outside polling stations for results in Jammu | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 13 : The district administration has decided to install big screens outside the polling stations vis-visa at the polling centres to keep people updated of polling results for Jammu-Poonch and Udhampur-Doda Parliamentary Constituencies. "Big television screens will be installed at the venues of polling stations and also at some of the prominent locations outside in both Kathua and Jammu regions so that besides political parties and their supporters, a common man also get updated of the results time to time," Shantmanu-Divisional Commissioner Jammu here said. In Kathua, single polling centre has been established at Government Degree College Kathua and in Jammu two centres have been set up at Maulana Azad Memorial Government College and Government Polytechnic College. Shantmanu said besides this closed circuit cameras have also been installed at the polling centres to keep check on the ongoing activities. The Divisional Commissioner, however, said security has also been put in place with the deployment of CRPF battalions at the polling stations while security along the Jammu-Pathankot national highway and bordering belts have also been intensified. He further said Assistant Returning Officers and the polling staff have been directed to reach the polling stations before scheduled time adding, 'contesting candidates can visit the polling stations alongwith their agents but only as per the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India.' The Divisional Commissioner, however, yesterday accompanied by IGP Jammu Rajesh Kumar also visited the Government Degree College Kathua and took stock of the arrangements for the counting day. |
