Appropriate financial assistance demanded for Gujjar, Bakerwal community
5/14/2014 12:23:48 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 13 : Gujjar and Bakkerwal community has demanded that the suffered people at Gole Gujral should be given appropriate financial assistance. It also appealed the authorities to rehabilitate them and a comprehensive rehabilitation policy be made on priority basis.
This was stated by the leaders of Gujjar and Bakerwal while addressing a press conference here today.
The Gujjar & Bakerwal community has ever been loyal and cooperative to the state govt. This loyalty of Gujjars in return was shown by the Govt at Gole-Gujral, Jammu yesterday. This brutal behavior of Government has put the community homeless and uncanny. In reality, this community is nomadic since years and has been discriminated every time. Now when the community has felt consciousness of their rights, they were cruelly batoned with lathis.
In this lathi charge, no one was spared including old aged men including women, dumb people and innocent children.
Since 40 years the people who had taken responsibility for the rehabilitation of the Gujjar community did not know that in these years a number of different communities have been rehabilitated and sheltered with citizenship rights in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. But nobody is thinking about this weak and nomadic community.
That is why we people are saying that our Gujjar & Bakerwal community has no relation with the state. Perhaps we (Gujjars) are born for this oppression and brutality.
Among those who were present in the press conference were: Ch. Mohd Hussain, Ch. Sayad Ahmed, Ch. Muktiyar, Ch. Shakeel Ahmed, Ch. Noor Hussain, Ch. Qasim Din, Ch. Ab. Latif, Ch. M.Yousuf and Ch. Nazakat Hussain.
