| NSUI alleges unlawful disqualification of Judo players | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 13 : Alleging unlawful disqualification of Judo players in a particular weight category in which number of participation was less than six, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) today held a protest against Director General of Youth Sports & Services. During the protest, NSUI activists also burned effigy of Naveen Aggarwal, Director Youth Sports & Services and demanded reconduct of competition in which weight groups were disqualified. Talking to the media, State Secretary NSUI Ranjodh Singh said that it is very unfortunate that the director has disqualified those weight categories in which number of participants was less than six. It is not the fault of the players who fall in that category. It is further mentioned that Inter School Championship is the competition from which the top players are selected for other levels including national. The director is playing with the careers of the sportsmen who participate in these categories who were disqualified. Ranjodh, who is also a Judo player, alleged that when the director was approached by him he misbehaved with him and said that it is not his jurisdiction to deal with the issue. NSUI leader demanded from the government to transfer Naveen Agarwal from the Youth Services and Sports Department because he discourages the sportsmanship in the state of J&K. |
