| Diverse yardsticks vex aspirants | | JKPSC rules for recruitment of NET pass outs in Management | | Bivek Mathur
Jammu, June 1: The recently advertised 1651 posts for the recruitment of Assistant Professors in different colleges of the state has brought charm on the faces of the unemployed youths of the state but a bizarre criterion for Management students who have qualified NET/SLET with less than 60% marks in their respective degrees are largely frustrated over the development. In the notification issued by JKPSC vide No: 12-PSC (DR-P) OF 2014 dated: 29 .05. 2014, for 42 different disciplines with numbering from 156 to 198, the criteria for selection required by the JKPSC is good academic record as defined by the concerned university with at least 55% marks { 50%, excluding any grace marks, in case of scheduled Caste/Scheduled tribe/Differently-abled (Physically and Visually differently abled) Categories/Ph.D. degree holders, who have obtained their Master's Degree prior to 19th September 1991 or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed at the Master's Degree level in the relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University. Other criteria demanded are-the candidate must have cleared NET/SLET/SET conducted by the UGC, CSIR/AIU. The candidate who are, or have been awarded a Ph.D degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and procedure for Award of Ph.D degree regulations), 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET. The last point mentioned is-NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Master's Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted. But as far as the recruitment of Assistant Professor in Management discipline is concerned, which occupies number 199, the criteria demanded for the recruitment is entirely different i.e. with 60% marks for General category students. With this, there is no mentioning of some categories like Resident of Backward Area (RBA), Actual Line of Control etc unlike posts advertised last time owing to which the aspiring candidates are largely frustrated over their career. The criteria mentioned in case of Management subject is however different from the same for the above mentioned subject i.e. Master's Degree in Business Management/Administration/in a relevant management related discipline or two year full time PGDM declared equivalent by AIU/accredited by the AICTE/UGC with 60% marks {55%, excluding any grace marks, in case of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled tribe/Differently-abled (Physically and Visually differently abled) Categories/ Ph.D. degree holders, who have obtained their Master's Degree prior to 19th September 1991} or Graduate and professionally qualified Chartered Accountant/Cost & Works Accountant/Company Secretary of the concerned/Statutory bodies with 60% marks {55%, excluding any grace marks, in case of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled tribe/Differently abled (Physically and Visually differently abled) Categories/Ph.D. degree holders, who have obtained their Master's Degree prior to 19th September 1991} Desirable: Teaching, research, industrial and /or professional experience in a reputed organization; Papers presented at Conferences and /or published in referred journals. An aggrieved NET pass out student said that he is working as contractual lecturer in a Government College for the past over five years and falls in General Category and similar to him, there are number of other cases where some NET/SLET/SET pass outs are working in colleges with about 7 years of experience and the recent advertisement, according to them, in an attempt to bar them from the benefits of the posts advertised. The lecturer said that the brewing pressure among these candidates has left them with no other option but to knock the door of High Court for justice with them. |
