Jammu, June 28: Continuing its crackdown against alleged nexus of black-marketing of Government ration supply by replacing it with low grade and poor quality ration, the Domana Police today unearthed a racket involved in embezzlement of government ration after repacking on the name of other brand. Newly appointed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Uttam Chand while addressing media persons here today, said, "Following complaints about the nexus of replacing government ration with low grade/ inferior quality flour the police took various initiatives besides pulling up their sources started keeping a vigil on activities of various persons associated with the food mills industry. " "Today on specific information from its reliable sources, the police party from Domana Police Station, led by Sub Insp (SI) Jai Paul Sharma, SHO Domana, SP Rural ML Kaith and SDPO Doman Sanjay Parihar raided a Flour Mill at Sari Rakhwalan in Poni Chack area, he said and added, "the police party seized the 335 bags of flour weighing 50 kg each, 60 bags of rice weighing 10 kg each, 43 empty bags, one sewing machine." "Apart from this the police party also seized two Tata mobile vehicle bearing regd nos JK02T-2672 and JK02AL 4137 which were being used for transportation purpose, SSP Jammu said. Further briefing about nexus, the Senior Police Officer said that modus operandi of the accused was that they hoard the government ration in the mill and after repacking it in new packs the again supply it to the market to the retailers to whom they already have made a liaison for selling the same in consumer market.' He said that besides the govt ration supply bags, the new bags in the name and style of brand of 'Gokul Chakki Atta' too were seized from the spot during today's raid. "Team also has arrested the drivers of the vehicle while after verification it came to fore that the mill belongs to one Balbir Singh, who is brother of Sarpanch and was absconding", he said while sharing the details of police raid at a rice mill in Domana. "Two labourers working at the mills allegedly involved in the unholy nexus were also arrested, said senior police officer. SSP Jammu also said that a case under FIR 243/14 under section 409/407/109 of RPC and 3/7 Essential Commodity Act (ECA) at Police Station Domana and a massive manhunt is on to nab the absconding Balbir Singh. Replying to a query about the role of CA&PD employees, SSP Jammu said though the matter is at preliminary stage but we can't rule out outrightly and concerned employees will be questioned after having any lead in this regard from the arrest accused. |
