BUDGAM, June 28: Budgam district, as the people believe, in history of the Jammu and Kashmir has been in the captivity of a handful of the people, representing a particular community as a result of which other areas of the district have failed to get the face lift. "It is for the past many decades that the district Budgam has remained in the captivity of a handful of the persons with the vested interests as they enjoy the support of people in power. These people can't see the other areas of the district progressing," said Abdul Gaffar from Soibugh while talking to Early Times. Gaffar went on saying that the other areas of district receive a negligible share of the funds meant for the developmental programmes of the district. Where the funds are to be utilized, is for a handful of persons to decide. This according to Gaffar is done at the behest of the accomplished politicians of the state as their vote bank policy. There are many areas of the district which can be mentioned as not having been ever considered for the developmental programmes. The areas like Sholipora, Soibugh, Wadwan, Chattabugh, Gariend, Gotapora and many more haven't received any attention from the authorities. "We need representatives who can represent our aspiration and get problems solved for us. Our areas give a primitive look as these areas have been deprived of the basic amenities since a long time. We have been the victims of the official apathy for decades along," said Ghulam Nabi from Chattabugh, Budgam. A group of youth while of Gotapora sharing their views said, "We have always been neglected by the people at the helm of affairs. The change of faces in the corridors of power has become mandatory to facilitate the face lift of the neglected areas." These youth went on saying that there are certain vital roads and link roads which are still in shambles whereas at some places where the influential's live even lanes get macadamized each year. As per these people, the development of these roads would have done wonders to the people of the area. According to these youth the roads such as Soibugh-Sonpah, Soibugh-Magam, Soibugh-Narbal, Nassarullahpora-Sonpah if developed, will go a long way in serving the interests of the people of the area, but according to these people, the authorities are unmoved to do so. |
