| Traffic snarls on as NH-1A still awaits completion | | | Shiv Thakur Jammu, June 28: Four lanning -an ambitious project under construction in Jammu and Kashmir with an aim to decongest traffic on Jammu Srinagar Highway still a half baked bread as the works on this project though is on but likely may miss the deadline. According to reports, the ambitious project to which the people of state are waiting anxiously and are pondering this project may or may not get completed by its deadline. Sources though with a sheer optimism believe that project is likely to get completed on time yet AFCONS could not manage to complete the Jammu-Udhampur Widening Project on time as it missed the deadline fixed. If recalled here, the Project Director (NHAI) R P Singh during a telephonic conversation with 'Early times' in recent past had claimed the Entire project from Jammu to Kashmir will be completed before 2016. He however added that Jammu-Udhampur Road Widening process is likely to be completed in June 2014. But sources in sharp contrast, said, there is bleak chances that the project will meet the deadline as some of the tunnels as wells as bridges near Nandini locality still need more time to be completed as the construction process in this tough terrain having tough geo-morphological characters is tough and time consuming. Project Director (NHAI) when contacted hopefully said that the Jammu-Udhampur Road Widening is almost complete and is ready to be opened within 10 days. However when asked about the delay in Nandni stretch, he guardedly said, "The only reason of the delay is nod from the Wild Life Department as Nandni sttetch falls in famous Nandni Wild life Sanctuary thus it took time to get clearance from the wild life department. He optimistically said that that Nandni Tunnel is scheduled to be completed in December this year, but we are working with an aim to get it completed by October this year. |
