| SRTC Drivers strike enters 5th day | | Corporation's buses remain off-road on third day | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 28: The operation of state owned transport corporation passenger buses remained off roads for fifth consecutive day today in the backdrop of strike call given by All Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation Drivers Union (JKSRTCDU). A large number of Union members accompanied by SRTC Volunteer Retired Employees staged a protest demonstration at SRTC yard rail head complex. Protesters expressed anguish over alleged high headedness of the SRTC management, who instead of looking into the genuine demands of Drivers, trying to sabotage the movement. They demanded immediate revocation of termination orders of the leaders, conducting of fuel survey of vehicles particularly in respect of Amarnath yatra, arranging of at least one room at base camp, Bhagwati Nagar for drivers who have to spend night at the bas camp, beside other facilities. Later the drivers in the shape of deputation met. Raman Bhalla, Minister for Housing, sports and culture at his residence and explained to him the high headedness of the management. Managing Director in his attempt to settle personal scores categorically did not order the regularisation order in favour of S. Didar Singh and again now when the drivers protested in Favour of their demands, Terminated the service of leaders . Minister gave a patient hearing, understood the plight of the drivers and assured the deputation that he will definitely intervene d get the matter sorted out by assuring the re instatement of leaders as well as issuance of regularisation order of S Didar Singh within a day or two re assembled at green belt park .and after discussions given a" Kashmir Chalo" call on Monday 1st July 2090. |
