| HC issues notice to Defence Secy, other respondents | | Alleged fake encounter: | | Srinagar, June 28: A local court issued notices to Defence Secretary and state government among others respondents while hearing a case petition filed by a woman, seeking directions for registration of an FIR in the killing of her son at Bandipora in north Kashmir in 2006. According to court sources, a single bench of the court issued the notices to Commandant 14 RR C/O 56 APO, District Magistrate Bandipora, Secretary GAD, DGP, SSP Bandipora and SHO Police Station Bandipora and directed them to file reply with four weeks. The petitioner Salima Begum has alleged that her son Abid Ahmad Shah was killed in alleged fake encounter in 2006. "That the deceased was 21 years of age having no physical infirmity and has completed his graduation in the year 2006. He was having no direct or indirect link with any militancy related activity, the petitinoner stated. "The deceased was educated youth who was aspiring to go for higher studies but prior to that he was killed by the personnel of 14 RR, it alleged further submitted that it needs to mention here that the deceased was also helping his father in the family business and was also good in studies. The petitioner also had submitted she approached higher authorities of police to get justice by registration of FIR but to no avail. In her petition the petitioner also has sought a judicial inquiry into killing and compensation of Rs 75,00,000/- apart from government employment to any eligible family member. |
