| Govt to cancel registration of fake migrants | | |

JAMMU, July 7: The State Government has decided to cancel the registration cards of all those migrants who are registered as migrants at Jammu and are putting up in Kashmir valley and only visit here once in a month or two months to collect their ration and relief or show their face to the officials in Relief organization.
According to high placed sources the decision has been taken in view of the objections raised by Union Government recently that the majority of migrants taking the relief have not physically migrated from Valley but were either putting up there or have returned four five years back after the improvement in ground situation in Kashmir.
Sources said majority of migrants in this category are the political activists of various parties who have got themselves registered as migrants and taken all the benefits given to a migrant but never migrated outside Kashmir along with their families till date.
Sources said crores of rupees are being spent on relief for such political activists and this amount goes down the drain as the migrants falling in this category have not migrated out of Valley or have returned after normalization of ground situation.
Sources said the State Government has issued instruction to Relief Organisation to ascertain the facts in this regard and also decided to conduct a survey so that the Government money does not go down the drain. Sources said most of such migrants have also taken the benefit in getting the admission of their children in professional colleges outside Valley and also taken other advantages by showing the fake migration certificates when actually they never migrated from the Valley.
Sources said that the step has also been taken by the Union Government to discourage such people in seeking the benefits under the relief category under the return formula. Sources said the Government has apprehension that such fake migrants may apply under return formula and take all benefits. This way the State exchequer will not only be put to further heavy loss but also the actual migrants will also be deprived of their due.
Sources said the Relief organisation has been asked to conduct a detailed survey in this regard door to door and ascertain the facts about the residential proof of such migrants who have been registered under relief category as political migrants |
