| Sham reviews functioning of PHE, I&FC Deptts | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 7 : Minister for Public Health Engineering and Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma reviewed the progress of various ongoing works being executed under PHE and Irrigation and Flood Control and asked to complete ongoing works within stipulated time frame. He was chairing a monthly meeting to review the performance of PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Department in Jammu division, here today. He stressed the need for improving the monitoring mechanism for timely completion of various on-going schemes. The Minister during the meeting was briefed about the action taken in connection with water supply connection in uncovered education institutions, hand wash facilities provided in every school, functioning of lab in various sub divisions for water testing, modern tool kits provided to field functionaries like plumbers, multi villages schemes, revenue collection, fully metering established in private sector, water tank supply in water scarcity area, etc. Taking detailed appraisal of various components of schemes, the Minister laid stress on strict implementation of sustainability programme which is aimed to conserve the existing PHE schemes for a longer period. He directed the engineers to take all possible steps to improve the efficiency of schemes so that they serve their purpose. He also stressed the need for improving the work culture at the grass root level to provide better services to the people. He stressed on regular repair and maintenance of machinery and other infrastructure at the water stations to avoid sudden breakdowns. Mr. Sharma exhorted upon the engineers to achieve the set targets within the time frame, adding that no laxity in this regard would be tolerated. He enjoined upon them to work hard and come up to the expectations of the people. Besides, the meeting also reviewed pace of progress on the on-going irrigation projects.Commissioner/ Secretary PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Chief Engineer PHE Jammu Sushil Aima, Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control Jammu H.
