Jammu, July 7: Criticizing the Central University Jammu administration, National Secular Forum (NSF) Monday staged protest demonstration against what they called the six months extension granted to Sr.Consultant PS Pathania to Vice Chancellor Dr. SS Baloria of CUJ.
Amid raising slogans the NSF protesters were demanding immediate revocation of extension order and immediate removal of Vice Chancellor Dr. SS Baloria.
Addressing the protesters, State president of NSF Sukhdev Singh said that shelving all norms, the CUJ administration had granted extension of six months to PS Pathania, whose past record was dotted with irregularities committed by him in University of Jammu.
He further alleged that Pathania was a blue eyed candidate, who was appointed to Central University of Jammu, throwing all norms to winds. "Pathania is also involved in several cases and in irregularities committed by him under the patronage of Vice Chancellor SS Baloria. He is also involved in illegal recruitments recently held in CUJ", he alleged. "According to CUJ norms, the maximum age for post of DSW is 62 years but he is 65 years of age, which is clear violation of law and that too illegally as the post was not advertised", Singh rued. "The student community had presumed that CUJ would benefit them on account of providing jobs, but maximum of outsiders and retired officials are being rehabilitated by VC", he said, and while citing an example, NSF Jammu President said that VC had appointed an officer as Dean Student Welfare.
He further said that the tenure of Vice Chancellor of CUJ, SS Baloria was likely to expire in August 2014, while the tenure of PS Pathania was schedule to expire in mid of July 2014.
"Inspite of taking action against the corrupt officials, PS Pathania has been appointed", he alleged, adding that there were certain reports that some Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders have been lobbying in favour of PS Pathania to make him inchage Vice Chancellor of CUJ, after Dr. SS Baloria would attain superannuation.
Sukhdev Singh further said that BJP, which claimed to be pro masses and pro youth, has been lobbying for a corrupt official. "The BJP leaders of state are reportedly approaching Union Human Resource Development Minister to secure seat of Vice Chancellor of CUJ for PS Pathania", he said. On one hand there was large army of unemployed youth in state but on the other retired officials have been engaged and have been given extensions, which was against all norms. The threatened to launch protest demonstrations against Union HRD Ministry, if PS Pathania would be made in charge VC of CUJ. Among those who were present in the protest included, Barket Ali, Qayoom Malik, Ajaz Shah, Vikram Madhyal, JB Singh, Amit Sanotra, Rishikesh Rana, Pawan Kumar, Narinder Singh, Bhupinder Singh , Varinder Singh, Sanjeev Kumar, Hari Kumar, Bhupinder Singh, and others.
