Srinagar, July 7: Minister for Haj, Auqaf, Floriculture and Public Enterprises Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed today visited Gadool village in Kokernag Constituency of Anantnag District to take stock of the damage caused to property, crops and utilities due to incessant rains and flash flood. The incessant rains and flash flood had caused damages to the crops, trees, roads, water and power supply in the village while some overflowing nallahs of the area resulted inundation in some houses. During his visit, the Minister chaired a joint meeting of officers of Revenue, PHE, Irrigation, Flood Control, Horticulture and CAPD departments and had a detailed review of the situation arisen due to recent rains and floods in the area. He directed the concerned officers for ensuring correct and accurate assessment of the damage caused to crops and property and to submit the report within five days so that the affected could be compensated accordingly at the earliest. He also asked the concerned for restoration of utilities at the earlist. Meanwhile, Peerzada said that steps will be taken to extend immediate succour to the affected and in this regard asked the affected people to extend cooperation to the officers entrusted with the job of loss assessment. En-route at Yailoo, various individuals and deputations also called on the Minister and apprised him of their problems and demanded immediate redressal of the same.
