SRINAGAR, Dec 16: State's premier recruitment agency Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (PSC) that is functioning without a chairman and members has also failed to appoint 99 KAS officers.
In absence of officials at JKPSC, the fate of the appointment of 99 KAS officers who cracked the exam in August this year is lingering all together as these posts have not been filled so far.
Disappointed by the government's lethargic approach the candidates held that even after four months, the commission is yet to forward their recommendation list to General Administration Department (GAD), thus affecting their career.
"The Commission has failed to issue any formal appointment order neither has it forwarded any recommendation to the General Administration Department. They are playing with our emotions. An important phase of our career is being wasted by the irresponsibility of JKPSC," said a group of KAS officers.
S L Bhat, completed his term as chairman of the Commission on September 10 this year. After one month the Cabinet nominated Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Financial Commissioner, Industries & Commerce Department, as Chairman of JKPSC. However Governor raised objections over the names recommended by the Government as members of PSC, thus delaying the appointment process of KAS officers.
Meanwhile sources in the department said that these KAS officers will have to wait till the next government is formed and their formal appointment will be made under a new dispensation.
"PSC is literally handicapped this time as there is no chairman and members in the commission, they cannot fill the posts of KAS officers until 2015, when the next government will be running the state," said sources in the department.
Meanwhile the Jammu and Kashmir High Court on November 22 had also sought an affidavit from the state government indicating the time it will take to complete the process of filling up of position in Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission and the reason for not filling the up these positions so far.
It is pertinent to mention here that the appointment of such a large number of KAS officers was set into motion more than a year back. The applications for this examination were invited by JKPSC in June 2013 and the preliminary test was conducted on September 29, 2013. The mains examination was conducted in March-April 2014 and the interviews were conducted from 23 June 2014.
