| J&K Polls: It’s BJP versus the rest | | |

Jammu, Dec 16 : It is Modi versus the rest in Jammu and Kashmir where polling under fifth phase is to be held on December 20. It is BJP versus the Congress,the NC,the PDP during the entire ongoing poll process. Since the PDP and the NC are valley centric parties with an eye on Muslim vote bank the leadership of the NC and the PDP has targeted the BJP, especially, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. The Congress too has been in the forefront of those engaged in Modi bashing. Knowing that its hold on voters in the region of Jammu has declined the Congress leadership has favoured a vigorous campaign against Modi which it believes that could help the Congress in the valley too. In fact the NC,the PDP and the Congress started sending sharp barbs against the BJP and Modi only after the the three part ies believed that BJP was aiming at achieving +44 mission.The leaders belonging to the NC,the Congress and the PDP thought that in case the BJP either achieved +44 mission or came closer to the for mation of the Government the NC,the Congress and the PDP may not be able to retain or regain power or may not be able to share power. The NC leadership wants the Congress to win some seats so that the NC could share power with it.
Since the NC cannot share power with the PDP as is the case with BJP which is deadly opposed to sharing power with the Congress. The Congress too has alternatives bigger than the NC.In case the PDP misses the target of winnming 44 seats by a whisker it could secure support from the Congress. The win for the BJP could prbevent the Congress from acting as a Government maker and hence the Congress is raising its pitch while fulminating against the BJP and Modi. |
