Days before counting of votes Peoples Conference candidate joins National Conference | | | Shakeel A Khan
Early Times Report
BUDGAM, Dec 16: Much before the conclusion of electoral process in the state Peoples Conference led by Sajad Gani Lone suffered a setback as its candidate for the Budgam assembly seat today decided to join the National Conference. This unusual development has shocked people more so as counting is just few days away. After the polling in this central Kashmir Mohammad Kamal Malik, Peoples Conference established contacts with National Conference in order to pave way to join the latter. Malik has developed an understanding with National Conference according to which she has promised the position of Block President in the party. "The workers of Jammat-e-Islami said one thing and did other thing. There is nothing wrong in Peoples Conference nominated candidate for the constituency. He would have been a better choice than the outsiders. He has got the better knowledge of the problems faced by the people of the areas neglected so far," said Gulzar Ahmad (name changed) from Soibugh. This candidate had taken the local leaders of the Jammat-e-Islami into confidence and had expected that the workers of this socio-religious party will for him, said Gulzar. He went on saying that the people voted for a person who will never bother to solve the problems of the areas neglected so for. People as a whole believe that if Kamal had to join National Conference then why he chose the Peoples Conference first. Most of the supporters of Peoples Conference feel ditched over the decision of Kamal to join the National Conference. There are people who say that Kamal has a history of changing sides adding that there is nothing to get surprised over this development. In Charar-I-Sharief constituency which as per reports has voted for a change, the supporters of the National Conference when asked to as to who will win the seat this time gave a laughable answer that the security agencies decide as to who should win the elections. "Peoples Democratic Party is as good as Hurriyat Conference. It is the will of the Government of India to hand-over the chair of power to these people so that people forget about the Azadi. Also, there is an agreement that Salah-ud-Din will be brought back as the supporters of the Hurriyat voted for the first time in the last twenty five years, that too in a great number," said Abdul Aziz from Charar-e-Sharief. |
