Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 16: Launching a scathing attack on Congress and dubbing it as Ghuspaithiye (intruders), Prime Minister Narendra Modi today called upon Jammuites to vote against the discrimination meted out to them since long. Addressing a largely attended public rally at M A Stadium here, he called Congress a party of intruders and said the party had no credibility of its own in the state which can be gauged from the fact that it has never left any opportunity to be a part of the government either by accepting coalition with NC or PDP in the state. This despite the fact that Congress never contested any election in the state in coalition solely to befool the masses of Jammu. The BJP star campaigner said people of Jammu region usually complained about discrimination at the hands of successive Kashmir-centric governments but after going through some of the recent political statements of NC, PDP and Congress leaders, he was surprised to know that the claims of residents of Jammu were genuine. He said he was surprised that PDP, NC and Congress leaders were giving statements that BJP would fail to open its account in valley. He questioned why these three parties had been playing politics of regions. He put a question before the public as to whether the chauvinistic language based on regions "suits these political parties' representatives". Modi appealed to people of Jammu region to give appropriate reply to those who were making statements that BJP won't get any seat in the valley. "And, people can make the appropriate reply by giving no seat to these leaders and their parties in Jammu region in the remaining 20 constituencies which are going to polls in the 5th phase of the assembly elections," he said and added that they (Kashmiri leaders) deserved this reply because they were using "unacceptable" language of dividing people of Jammu and Kashmir. He challenged the Congress leadership saying, "Is baar chahe Ladakh ho, Chahe Jammu ho ya Kashmir ho, ek suksham dar ke antar se bhi aap dikhayi dene wale nahi ho, (In this election, whether it is Ladakh, Jammu or Kashmir region, Congress will be eliminated completely from the state)". He said that Congress had always played with the sentiments of people of Jammu region for its political benefits saying: "Congress ne Jammu ke logon ka bhavishaya khatam karne ke liye inke kandhon pe rakh ke goliyan chalayi hain". He said boys as well as girls of Jammu were talented enough to stand on their own but the political reservation of the father-son and the father-daughter is a major impediment in their progress. "If you want to see your son's or daughter's future bright, you have to end this business of father-son and father-daughter politics in the state," Modi said while hitting out at Abdullahs and Muftis. He asked people of Jammu and Kashmir to punish successive governments in the state who had failed to address the grievances of people of Jammu and Kashmir saying, "if your son, who is adorable to all, commits any crime, is he punished or not? If he is punished, NC, PDP and Congress should also be punished". He said that all predictions of the political pundits would prove to be incorrect as the political wave in the state was entirely different to what they were thinking. Pointing towards the tourism sector, Modi said the state government had failed entirely in this sector where lot could be done with a positive outlook to attract people to this captivating state from across the country. Giving details of his major achievements, including the opening of new bank accounts, Modi said Congress was the party that played major role in the nationalization of banks 40 years ago. Earlier, these banks were for the rich but after forming a majority government at the Centre, the government opened bank accounts of 9 crore people who in turn deposited approximately Rs 7,000 cr in their accounts. Calling himself as Pradhan Sevak, Modi said he had visited the state every month in 2014 from August to December and would also visit the state in 2015. He said he didn't celebrate Diwali as on the day he was in Kashmir to be the partner of Kashmiris when they were suffering from the flash floods. Modi also praised the electorates of Jammu and Kashmir for their record breaking participation in the four phases of elections and called upon them to repeat the same in the fifth phase also and ensure the victory of BJP in majority. |
