SRINAGAR, Dec 25: Though the government formation in Jammu and Kashmir is still in progress data provided by the National Election Watch/Association for Democratic Reforms led by Balvinder Singh, reveals that out of the 87MLAs, who won assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir state recently, 65 are crorepatis. They included 24 ) out of 28 MLAs are from JKPDP, 16 out of 25MLAs are from BJP, 14 out of 15MLAs are from JKNC and 7 out of 12 are from INC. These MLAs have declared assets worth more than Rs. 1 crore in their self sworn affidavits.
Meanwhile, five are those who are facing criminal charges and two among them have been indicted in serious crime related activities. They include Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Constituency: Shopian, Party: JKPDP, faces criminal charges including charge related to giving or fabricating false evidence with intent to procure conviction of capital offence, charge related to threatening any person to give false information, charge related to Punishment of criminal conspiracy and charge related to Public servant farming an incorrect document with intent to cause injury.
Asiea Constituency: Hazratbal , Party: JKPDP, faces charges related to assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty, charge related to mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees.
Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Constituency: Amirakadal, Party: JKPDP, faces seven cases and all are related to the income tax and the Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar under Case No. 22M,has taken cognizance for commission of offence in terms of section 276 read with section 277 of Income tax act.
Usman Abdul Majid ,Constituency: Bandipora, Party: INC , faces charge related to defamation (IPC Section-500), charge related to Punishment of abetment if the act abetted is committed in consequence, and where no express provision is made for its punishment. Gulzar Ahmad Wani, constituency: Shangus, Party: INC, faces charge related to assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty. Coming on the educational background of MLAs, it is revealed that 28 are under graduates and among them one is illiterate. The break up like that one is illiterate, one is 5th Pass, three are 8th Pass, 10 are 10th Pass, 14 are 12th Pass, 23 are Graduate,25 are Graduate Professiona, 9 are Post Graduate and one is Doctorate.
