Good governance day celebrations held at IGNOU Regional Centre

Jammu, Dec 25: Regional Centre of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) today celebrated good governance day.
The day was celebrated on the occasion birthdays of former Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the great educationist of the country Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, which fall on December 25.
Regional Director threw light on the lives of two eminent personalities of the country.
They described Atal Bihari Vajpayee as one of India's most charismatic leaders and a great statesman politician. About Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, Er Bhat said that he was a visionary educationist and was considered to be one of the torchbearers of the freedom struggle acting as a bridge between the Moderates and the Extremists.
On the occasion, a debate competition was organized on the theme "Use of Technology and innovation in promotion of good governance" in which some of the learners and staff members participated. Regional Director, Er. K K Bhat inaugurated the event with Christmas greetings to all staff and the participants and described the Christmas as festival of love and joy in which all communities, especially children participate and enjoy.
The contestants presented their views about good governance and role of modern technology in delivering good governance. Among the participants, top three winners of Oratory competition were declared and gifts were presented by the Regional Director, Er. K K Bhat, Assistant Regional Directors, Vikram Singh and Dr Sandeep Gupta. Among the winners, Lucky Sharma bagged the First Prize, Antim Bhagat got the second prize and Sonali Koul was awarded third prize.
To commemorate the event, Regional Director provided on-spot targets to the officers and staff with respect to the Use of Technology and expressed hope the extensive use of modern technology would prove to be beneficial for effective support services to the learners in the region. He also declared that for the forthcoming admission session, all the Induction Sessions to be held at various Study Centres would be monitored live from the Regional Centre through online video conferencing web applications.
