Christmas celebrated in Kashmir with simplicity
12/25/2014 11:53:10 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Dec 25: Despite dry and bone chilling weather conditions, large number of Christians joined the night-long special prayers on the occasion of Christmas, the birthday of Jesus Christ.
However, this time the churches were not decorated or illuminated because of the devastating flood which has caused much damage to them.
We are celebrating the Christmas in a very simple way this time as churches suffered extensive damage in the devastating flood in September this year, the management of Catholic church on Moulana Azad road and Protestant church at Sonawar said.
They however, said despite minus 4 degree temperature during the night, large number of devotees joined the mid-night prayers at both the churches.
'We shall again hold prayers today and pray for peace and prosperity, this time it was dry Christmas as there was no snow,' they said. Reports of Christmas celeberations were also received from Gulmarg, where light snowfall was received recently.
