For my version, support your claims in written: VC to ET scribe | Atop 70 feet, JU employee repairs electric pole without wearing body safety gears | | K Koushal ET Report Jammu, Jan 14: In the broad day light, a Jammu University employee was seen atop 70 feet electric pole to repair the same without wearing any body safety gears and when Jammu University VC was questioned, he asked this scribe of supporting the claim in written. How dictatorial? It is not for the first time that VC is reacting in such a manner. Earlier, on many occasions, he has tried to avert the questions of Early Times scribes over variety of irregularities prevailing under the nose of varsity administration. Early Times lens-man today captured a University Works Department employee atop a 70 feet poll repairing the mast light in front of Library Sciences and came to know from sources that the University administration has not procured or bother to procure any safety body gears till date due to administrative inertia. Coming across the view, this scribe called Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof. R.D. Sharma telephonically enquiring over the safety of the poor employee who was seen atop the poll with the support of a ladder hanging from height without the support of any other employee to repair the mast light, VC reacted in a weird manner saying, "As far as the safety of the employee is concerned, I will answer if Early Times scribe come with a written format of questionnaire". Though answering the queries of journalists is entirely the prerogative of the Vice-Chancellor but if he was not interested to answer the query of this scribe, he could have denied replying. Vice-Chancellor cannot stop or dictate over the perpetual news reporting that is significant in the context of today and not tomorrow. |
