After losing RS seat to Congress, Ram Madhav's political astuteness under scanner | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 9: The leadership and political management of the BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav is being questioned after BJP conceded crucial Rajya Sabha seat to Congress. Entrusted with overall supervision of J&K Assembly elections, the RSS ideologue now faces axe if party sourcese are to be believed. "Ram Madhav's main mandate was to make inroads in the valley and also get atleast one seats. He was given choice to roll in people of his choice and he got senior police officials to help in. He not only failed in it but even failed to cultivate friends with the Kashmir leadership. This proved he was failure in his handling of the affairs," said a senior BJP leader. Ram Madhav sources said relied more on working with the people who were close to the party than doing ground work. He failed to have even personal equations with the independents like Hakim Yaseen and engineer Rashid. "Personal relations could have helped in atleast convincing these MLAs to abstain from voting which could have ensured BJP's victory. But he failed in that," said the leader. According to sources, Ghulam Nabi Azad had put in all the resources to approach these two key MLAs. All the MLAs of the parties were directed to meet them personally and put them under constant pressure. However, the BJP MLAs remained overconfident and didn't make any effort to approach them. Nor any effort was made to direct the MLAs to approach them. "The biggest failure was to pressurize and convince the PDP to get in contact with these independent MLAs. He could have done it as he had been in constant touch with Mufti Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti," said a senior leader. All that Ram Madhav did was to hold 'secret' meeting with the top leadership of the state unit of the BJP and then briefing the new MLAs about the voting pattern. "What was the need of holding meeting with own party leaders. Their vote was secured at all time. He should have met and convinced the independents and spent time there. He has proved to be liability than an asset for the party," said a senior party leader. |
