AIBCU seeks representation of OBCs in Parliament, State Assemblies | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 9: All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) has appealed Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to give due representation to OBCs in MLC and MP elections for Rajya Sabha. A meeting of AIBCU was held in which it was observed that under Art 50 of J&K Constitution and Art 171 of Indian Constitution, the MLC seats and M.P seats for Rajya Sabha cannot be distributed to the politicians as they have no legal right for such seats. According to both the constitutions M.L.C seats and M.P Seats for a Rajya Sabha are only meant for those sections of the society who cannot afford to contest the Assembly as well as the Lok Sabha elections besides other social workers. This was disclosed in a meeting chairman by Jenab Abdul Majid Malik president of AIBCU. All the speakers and participants appealed both the major political parties PDP and BJP to go by the constitutions and must give due share to the State OBCs as there is nill pol. representation in the State in any house and that is why State OBCs who form 60% of the State population could not get their due share of 27% reservation in the treacherous ruling of N.C & Congress. Other prominents who shared their views were H.D Betab Patteron, Mohd Kabir, Gulam Rasool, Bodh Raj, Hm Sandokh Chand, Principal Darshan Lal, Raj Kumar, Deepak Panday, Shakeel Malik, Ab. Rashid Mushtaq, Mohd Hanief, Prof. Kali Dass and many others. |
