Goswami's sacking politically motivated: Harsh Dev Singh | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 9: While the Union government must have derived the sadistic satisfaction over having sacked Anil Goswami as the Union Home Secretary, there are still larger issues which need to be addressed and answered by the Union Home Ministry, said Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and former Minister. He said that there is no doubt that the decision was taken after the reported admission of Goswami of having called up CBI to dissuade them from summoning a former Union Minister for his questioning and arrest. But the most pertinent question, he said was whether Goswami had been the only officer till date to have exerted his influence in the affairs of CBI and that everything is going smoothly in the working of CBI. He said that selective sacking of officers like Anil Goswami is only indicative of vindictive approach and politically motivated decisions of the BJP led govt. He said that the Home Ministry needed to explain as to whether the singular removal of Home secretary from his position would purge the CBI which had all along been under a storm's eye for gross political interference with BJP most vociferously advocating for its autonomy Harsh Dev Singh said that the biggest import of the decision to sack Anil Goswami would be on the Sharda scam itself, the CBI and the more important issues of political control over police and investigating agencies. He said that the circumstances of the Home Secretary's removal amply indicate that the CBI which had been termed as a 'caged parrot' by the Apex court of the country has always remained vulnerable to high level political interference. Singh further said that given the vulnerability of CBI to political pressure and an over ambitious BJP regime out to conquer all at any cost, the autonomy of CBI assumes greater significance. |
