2 killed, one injured in road mishap, NH1A blocked for 3 hours

Kathua, Feb 9: Atleast two persons were killed and another was injured in a road accident at Dayalachak crossing along Jammu- Pathankot national highway.
The accident took place when some people came from cremation programme but a truck suddenly skidded off and crushed down the pedestrians. A total of four vehicles collided with one another at 1:30 pm and 2 died on spot, others were expected to be under the truck, Tipper bearing registration no. JK 02AK-2697 but local administration took 3 hours to launch the rescue operation that triggered rage among people who later on staged protest demonstration and sloganeering against the administration and terrific Police department. People blocked National Highway for three hours. Deceased have been identified as Jaswant Singh,42 S/o Girdhari Lal R/o Dayalachack and Jagdish Singh, 44 S/o Ram Paul R/o Dayalchak and Romesh Lal, 45 S/o Krishan Chand R/o Mela got major injuries and shifted to Hospital. Astonishingly local administration including Police department took 3 hours to launch rescue operation and many people expected to be under the truck bearing registration no. PB06C-2697 loaded with coal.
Romesh Gupta, eye witness, informed the track was over speed and over loaded that suddenly collided with tipper where Car moved and a scooty crushed down. The people who came from cremation were walking aside the road truck suddenly crushed down some pedestrians who still under the truck.
Satish Kumar, another eye witness, said people suddenly informed traffic police about the incident but administration and police took 3 hours to launch the operation.
He added that their negligence results death of 2, toll would enhance.
He alleged that National Highway Authority selected erroneous places for dividers that causes for frequent accidents on NH1A. He demanded to have usable dividers to control on frequent accidents.
