JAMMU, Feb 9:Abhishek Sangal of Jammu has won bronze medal in the just concluded 48th Senior National Indian Style Wrestling Championship and Hind-Kesari title held at Jamkhandi in Karnataka. A trainee of Romesh Chander (Maheshi) at Shiv Puri Akhara Jogi Gate Jammu Abhishek won the third position in 97 kg category. A 12th standard student, this young wrestler outplayed Ajay Mandve of Maharashtra in the opening round and then won the following two rounds only to lose to Kapil of NCR in the semifinals. Abhishek has been awarded with a cash prize of Rs 6500. The state team was accompanied by president of the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma, coach, Mulkh Raj Sharma, manager, Sanjeev Sharma and technical official, Bansi Lal Tidyal. Meanwhile, the Association congratulated Abhishek and his coach, Romesh Chander for the achievement at the national level. |
