AKHNOOR, Feb 9: Street Warriors Akhnoor outplayed Singh Challenger Akhnoor by 12 runs to enter into the final of the IIIrd Christmas Cup Twenty20 Tournament, organised by Singh Cricket Club at Government Higher Secondary School ground, here. Earlier, batting first, Street Warriors set a target of 171 runs for seven wickets, which, in reply, Singh Challenger could not maintain the required run rate and exhausted their quota of overs for 158 runs with four wickets in hand. Roshan Verma made highest 24-ball 33 runs while Sanjay contributed 26-ball 29 runs. Dilawar Singh added 20 runs off just 10 deliveries thereby helped the side reach a respectable total. From Singh Challenger, Rajesh Sharma bagged three wickets, followed by Atul Gupta, who took two. Sunil, Rajinder and Ajay shared apiece each. Later, Singh Challenger could not chase the total despite heroic innings from Sunny Kumar, who made unbeaten 91 off just 50 balls. Abitesh Sharma and Rajinder Sharma contributed 10 runs each. Roshan, Pankaj, Ubay and KP Singh took one wicket each from Street Warriors. The semifinal was officiated by Vikas Bali and Sham Singh Langeh as umpires while Manik was scorer. |
