Do clerical works instead of their assigned job
5 years on, several influential CHOs stationed at DHS remains untouched

Jammu, Feb 9: Nearly half a dozen Community Health Officers (CHOs) have been stationed in the office of Directorate of Health Jammu for the past nearly five years in clear violation of transfer policy Moreover these officers have not been doing their assigned jobs but instead have been doing some clerical works and the administration has failed to touch these officers, due to their alleged strong political links.
Even though Governor N N Vohra reshuffled the state machinery recently, these officers were not touched.
Sources informed Early Times that more than half a dozen Community Health Officers (CHOs), whose assigned job is to create health awareness in rural areas, Primary Health Centers, Community Health Centers, Sub Health Centers and other centers and also to create awareness among the masses during outbreak of any disease are reportedly doing some insignificant clerical works under the watchful eyes of the Director Health Services Jammu.
The CHO Hansraj Choudhary, who is working with State Tuberclousis Officer Suresh Gupta, has been working as Sanitory Inspector instead of his assigned job, besides Devinder Atri has been doing some other works in Directorate of Health Services Jammu.
Moreover, Ekta Sahi, whose actual place of posting is Samba has been attached with Directorate of Health Services and has been doing some other works.
The CHO Rajesh Verma and Anila Bhagat have been working in the legal section of Directorate of Health Services for the past many years.
Another one is Anil Choudhary, who has been doing works related to monitoring of Nursing Home files, besides CHO Jyoti Saraf has been working in the Non communicable disease section.
Moreover, Nidhi Gandotra has been working in the office of incharge Health Education and she has been working against the post of Audio Visual Officer.
The CHO Sanjay Ganjoo is doing some other work and not his designated job.
Sheela Devi has been working in Rajiv Gandhi Hospital Gangyal and Savtantar Singh has been working at PSM wing of Government Medical College but have never done their designated work.
Sources said that these officers have strong political links and even the senior officers at Director Office Jammu, have not been asking these officers to organize awareness tour programmes in rural areas.
"Hefty salaries and TA/DA is being drawn by these officers but the purpose for which these officers are posted has been virtually defeated", sources said, adding that the posting of the officers at same post for years ranging from three to five years, was also in violation of transfer policy.
