Social issues in India
Ashok Atri 3/17/2016 10:44:52 PM
India s'civilization is five thousands years old.Aryans and others immigrated to India and settled down.India was divided into small states which were ruled by King s,who were weak rulers and used to fight among themselves..that provided an invitation to outsider rulers to invade India, mostly Muslim rulers used to attack those small rulers ,after looting ,defeating them went back to their kingdoms.that they continued for years together..where as some of the rulers stayed in India and forced the people's conversion into Muslim religion at large scale..they brought along ethnic varieties and culture that contributed mix society of diverse culture, peoples belief and languages.
In 2nd to, 3rd, BC manus-mreti had divided Hindu religion into four castes like Brahmin Kshtriya varuna,s vaishya, and sudras' .that lead to caste system in India which is still continue in the country. In fact, every society in the world has social problems and issues. so does Indian society.which is rooted in religious belief .Hindu's, Muslims ,and others have their own belief andpractices.
FORMS OF SOCIAL ISSUES IN INDIA.
poverty; it means non availiabiltiy of food, clothing, shelter as per requirement to the people for survival. In India situation is very bad in terms of ,food ,shelter, income..As per united nation report,,thirty crores people still live extreme poverty .32% Indian population lives on U.S $ 1.25 per day. India after 68 years of independence stall a home of 194 million hungry people, highest in the world. further due to poverty ,26 crores of people suffer from mental dis orders . Illiteracy has become another social problem .India tops in the world in adult illiteracy. In India 287 million people are illiterate that amounts to 37% of the global illiterate population..India has world's largest youth but still literacy rate is very poor.there could be many factors for illiteracy like non availability of schools in n proportionate the population , inaccessibility of schools to the Children on caste creed colour basis..third could be poverty, compelling the Children to work for survival. As per , United Nation report, India has 2nd highest number of child marriages in the world . Indian constitution prohibits child marriages through various enactments and laws like \,Child marriage restraint Act 1979 that defines age of marriage for male and females but that is being defied and violated despite its being a criminal offence. those who are caught while violating law are dealt under the law. but still people go for child marriages as per religious practices and customs .Sex with minor is an offence under IPC as that amounts to rape. Child labour means employment of under age children in any form of employment . child labour could be with or without consent of the children and with or without payment.. other reasons for children employment could be poverty ,debit trap and bonded labour . In India ,there is law prohibiting children labour of under age ,but violation of law is quite visible. law enforcing agencies, either have shut the eyes or child employment remains un reported..even registration of cases under law are microscopic one despite its grave violation .the purpose of enactment of law was to send more and more children to schools and to allow them to enjoy childhood .children employment has been in both urban and rural areas apart from above listed and discussed social evils in the country, there are so many social evils , like, caste system, gender inequality, domestic violence against women, dowry deaths, sexual violence.
All such issues need immediate attention and remedial measures. so that nation could progress fast and bring in, peace and prosperity in the Country Gandhi ji Dr B R Ambedkar ,Dr Vinoba Bhave fought against these social evils through out their lives.and could succeed to certain level .Our social problems indicates that people are of orthodox beliefs who don't believe in equality, brotherhood and nation building.
