Ex-Ministers yet to return vehicles to Corporations

Early Times Report
srinagar, Mar 17: While the Government has sent notices to the Ministers of the former PDP-BJP regime asking them to vacate their official bungalows and vehicles without further delay, the latter are still holding vehicles of various Corporations. There is even no effort on the part of these PSUs to withdraw the facilities of providing vehicles to former Ministers.
Most of the Ministers vacated official bungalows after Government sent them a notice to vacate their respective Government accommodations. The previous Government ceased to exist on January 7 with the death of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. A day after Mufti's death, the State came under Governor's rule, which is still in place.
As the State is under the Governor’s rule, former Ministers are not entitled for bungalows and official vehicles when the elected Government does not exist in the State.
The Government had also ordered withdrawal of official vehicles from ex-Ministers of PDP-BJP Government and also ordered repatriation of staff deployed in their personal sections.
Surprisingly, there are various Corporations who have still their vehicles attached with former Ministers thus putting a huge burden on the financial budget of the Corporations.
One of the drivers attached with the former Minister wished not to be named said that he has no direction from the concerned authorities of the Corporation to detach the vehicle.
Sources said these politicians were entitled to use vehicles of various Corporations for the official use till February 7.
Sources said the PSUs like JK SSIDC is topping the list of providing vehicles to former Ministers of the Cabinet rank and the State rank Ministers including former Commissioner Secretaries and now not getting them back when these politicians are no Ministers and are not entitled for such services.
Sources said the said Corporation allotted five luxury vehicles to former Ministers, which they have not returned so far.
Similarly official sources of SMG said that, a Safari of State Motor Garages is still with former Health Minister, which he should have not returned so far when he is no more a Cabinet Minister.
"Neither the former Ministers are returning vehicles to these Corporations nor their authorities are withdrawing vehicles with them along with drivers," had a senior official said.
The official said former Ministers are not returning vehicles on the pretext that PDP-BJP Government would form Government very soon so that they won't return these vehicles.
Most of the Ministers vacated official bungalows after Government sent them a notice to vacate their respective Government accommodations. But many Ministers of the PDP- BJP coalition were yet to vacate their official bungalows and official vehicles despite Governor's rule imposed in the State of Jammu and Kashmir since the past two months.
Though these former Ministers were entitled to reside in these official bungalows and use official vehicles for a month and were supposed to vacate them within that period but only vacated bungalows.
