Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 16: Although, BJP legislators in public direct officials to complete ongoing projects within stipulated time period but take no measures to make funds available thereby causing delay in completion of projects.
New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) Gadigarh is a live example which construction work is stopped midway due to paucity of funds.
Pleading anonymity, a local resident of Gadigarh told Early Times that government has upgraded Sub Health Centre (SHC)Gadigarh as NTPHC couple of years back and also sanctioned a new building at an estimate cost of Rs 2.20 crore having two wards, three doctors quarters.
The construction work of the building was handover to Public Work Department (PWD) and the department has started their construction in the year 2013.
Almost 90 percent work of the building was completed before March 2015 but astoundingly after that the construction work was stopped best reason known to department concern and contractor.
He said Gadigarh said that we people approach the contractor they replied that delay in release of funds is the main reason to stop construction more than Rs 10 lakhs is still pending which was not released by department concern due to which he had stopped the construction work of hospital building. If government released pending funds than the remaining work of the health institution would be completed within few months.
In the last three years many times the local MLA visit here and directed the officials concerned on spot to complete the building construction work and handover the department for use but when the local visited the PWD office the officials verbally assured them and said that the remaining funds of the building would be released within a month period and the construction work of the building will be completed within two months and after that the building was handover to health department but nothing has done till date.
PWD, XEn construction division-I Jammu was not available for comments despite repeated calls.
